Wrexham is heading Down Under for the first time this summer, as the newly promoted Championship side will play three friendlies in Australia and New Zealand this July.
The team will play matches in Australia versus the Melbourne Victory on July 11 (Marvel Stadium), Sydney FC on July 15 (Allianz Stadium) and the Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand on July 19 (Sky Stadium). The Wrexham Down Under Tour follows two preseason tours in the United States in 2023 and 2024.
“From the very beginning, we wanted to help make Wrexham a globally recognized team, town and brand,” said Wrexham co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds in a club statement.

The Red Dragons have accomplished the first-ever back-to-back-to-back promotions in the history of English soccer. The games in the Southern Hemisphere will serve as a training opportunity.
“Bringing Wrexham AFC to Australia and New Zealand for three exciting matches against top A-League sides is truly a one-of-a-kind event,” said Rachael Carroll, managing director of TEG Sport. “This tour is more than just football — it’s a celebration of global sporting culture, entertainment, and fan connection. Whether you’re a die-hard football supporter or just love a great story, these matches promise unforgettable moments and fun for everyone.”
Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix are all members of Australia’s A-League, the highest level of soccer in the country. The Victory finished the 2024–2025 season fifth in the table, while Syndey FC placed seventh and Wellington was 11th.
“We’re excited to test our squad against Wrexham, a club that has risen to global prominence in recent years,” said Caroline Carnegie, Melbourne Victory managing director. “To play a team with such a rich history, in front of our passionate and loyal fans at Marvel Stadium, will be a fantastic experience for all football supporters.”
