World Table Tennis has announced that Las Vegas will host a United States Smash event from July 3–13, 2025, at the Orleans Arena, the first WTT Series event to be held in the United States.
“We’re excited to bring a WTT Grand Smash to the U.S., the world’s most influential sports market, and showcase our sport on a stage as dynamic as Las Vegas,” said Virginia Sung, chief executive officer of USA Table Tennis. “This premier event will attract new fans, energize our community and inspire future generations of athletes and enthusiasts.”
WTT Grand Smash events feature an 11-day event with some of the best players in the world. The launch of the US Smash is part of World Table Tennis’ focus on the U.S. market after the 2021 World Table Tennis Championships Finals in Houston and as the world gears up for the 2028 Olympic Summer Games in Los Angeles.
“Bringing the United States Smash to Las Vegas is a game-changer for our sport, now ensuring a top tier table tennis event enters the most professional sports market in the world,” said Steve Dainton, WTT chief executive officer. “The US Smash will bring table tennis into the spotlight as one of the most electrifying, fast-paced sports, guaranteed to captivate and energize American audiences. We’re excited to bring our most prestigious event to Las Vegas and continue our journey to elevate the sport’s global growth.”
The event will feature 64 men’s players, 64 women’s players, 24 pairs of men’s doubles, 24 pairs of women’s doubles and 24 pairs of mixed doubles. The top 50 individual players in the world for both genders will compete at the tournament. It will include Americans Lily Zhang and Kanak Jha, and international players including top-ranked Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha of China.
“I’m beyond excited to play the United States Smash in Las Vegas,” said Zhang. “The energy there is unmatched and it’s amazing to have such a prestigious event in the United States. It’s a great opportunity to showcase our sport in a city known for big moments and world class events.”
