The World Breaking Classic USA Qualifier will return to Tulsa, Oklahoma, on March 16, 2024, with the winning crew earning a spot in the 2024 World Finals.
Cain’s Ballroom will host the event presented by the Tulsa Sports Commission and produced by the Plus Seven Company.
“Bringing the World Breaking Classic USA Qualifier back to Tulsa for a second time is a testament to our region’s focus on developing not only a diverse sports identity, but giving our community access to watch or even compete in world-class events,” said Joel Koester, director of sales for the Tulsa Sports Commission. “With breaking officially joining the Olympics later this year in Paris as two separate events, there couldn’t be a more ideal time for its return.”
The champion crew will win $4,000. Crews will be judged by a national panel of breaking icons including Bboy Kareem, Bboy Moy and Bboy Nemesis.
“We’re proud to carry the World Breaking Classic flag in the United States and thrilled to be back in Tulsa,” said Nick Povalitis, WBC USA Qualifier 2024 event director. “Cain’s Ballroom is a historic live music venue that’s ideal for a premier breaking event. Alongside our partners, the move to Cain’s has allowed us to expand the 2024 edition to include educational content, local battles and an after-party to complement what will be another terrific WBC USA Qualifier.”
Before the competition, there will be an panel discussion titled “Staying Gold: Breaking’s Staying Power Beyond The Games” that explores breaking’s journey to the 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris.
“We’re super excited for another USA Qualifier, giving breakers from across the ocean a chance to be part of WBC,” said Paul van Dal, co-founder of World Breaking Classic. “We’re thankful to have Plus Seven Company as our trusted partner and are sure it will be a highly professional event. We’re looking forward to the outcome.”
