The Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau has named Nancy Helman as director of sports marketing.
Helman was previously the bureau’s sports marketing representative and has been on the sports marketing team in Virginia Beach for 12 years. She replaces Buddy Wheeler, who reitred in January after serving in the position since 1999.
“Helman brings a great deal of industry experience, tremendous work ethic and unique passion to this critical position,” said Al Hutchinson, vice-president of convention sales and marketing for the Virginia Beach CVB.
Some of the sporting events and conventions that Helman helped bring to Virginia Beach include the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon, Redskins Beach Blitz, Shamrock Marathon, National High School Coaches Wresting Championship and USA Track & Field Annual Meeting.
Additionally, the Virginia Beach CVB has added three new members to its team: Jamie Mitchell and Rachel Weiss as sales managers and Fred Malinis as the new sales database strategist and research manager.
