USRowing has announced a series of National Championships, U19 Trials and Beach Sprint Trials in Sarasota, Florida, from June 12–18, 2025.
The 2025 Youth National Championships will run June 12–15 at Nathan Benderson Park, while the U19 National Team Trials for the single sculls, pair and double sculls will take place from June 16–17.
As a part of USRowing’s ongoing effort to introduce more athletes to the Beach Sprints discipline ahead of the 2028 Olympic Summer Games, the inaugural Youth Beach Sprints National Championships will take place in 2025 at South Lido Key Beach from June 16–18. Following the national championships, the Beach Sprint Trials Qualification will run June 20–22 at South Lido Key Beach.
“Nathan Benderson Park is the ideal venue for Youth Nationals because of its state-of-the-art facilities that ensure safe and fair racing for all,” said Sarah McAuliffe, USRowing director of competition. “Their ongoing investment in amenities demonstrates a commitment to enhancing the comfort and experience for athletes, coaches, and spectators alike, making it the perfect choice to showcase the future of our sport.”
The 2025 Youth National Championships marks the 30th anniversary of the event. It was awarded the SportsTravel Award for Best Amateur Sports Event in 2023. The 2025 U19 Trials will begin with practice at Nathan Benderson Park on June 16 followed by time trials on the morning of June 17 and finals in the afternoon.
“We’re looking forward to hosting U19 Trials in the same location as the 2025 Youth National Championships,” said Brett Gorman, director of high performance at USRowing. “Our goal is to limit the barriers for the top U19 athletes to compete to represent Team USA in the men’s and women’s single sculls, pair and double sculls events at the 2025 U19 World Championships. Prospective U19 Trials competitors should prioritize training in these boat classes throughout the spring, regardless of whether or not they compete in them at the Youth National Championships.”
The inaugural USRowing Youth Beach Sprints National Championships will provide multiple opportunities for athletes and coaches to engage with the newest rowing discipline, June 17–18 with a head-to-head knockout competition at Lido Key Beach.
