USL Names Will Kuhns as SVP of Communications
New hire will lead publicity initiatives across all league properties
Posted On: September 3, 2021 By :The United Soccer League has hired Will Kuhns as its senior vice president of communications and public relations, charging him with building and maintaining relationships with national, local and international media as well as creating and executing communications initiatives to promote the USL and its member clubs.
As a member of USL’s executive team, Kuhns will provide strategic support across all properties and departments. Most recently as a consultant, Kuhns led communications at Austin FC for two months of the club’s inaugural season, including its first seven Major League Soccer home games, multiple international events and player, partner and community announcements.
“We are pleased to welcome Will Kuhns to our leadership team as we enter an exciting chapter of USL’s story,” said United Soccer League President Jake Edwards. “Will’s experience and reputation in American soccer are extraordinary and we anticipate increased visibility for all our leagues under his leadership.”
Kuhns began his career as a journalist and editor at publications such as The Washington Post and Soccer America. He spent most of 2005 reporting and writing from Buenos Aires as part of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. In 2006 he joined Major League Soccer where he split nearly 15 years between its communications and content divisions.
