USA Wrestling 2024 Boys 16U Nationals Duals Heads to Utah
June event will be in Herriman
Posted On: December 26, 2023 By :USA Wrestling’s 2024 Boys 16U National Dual Meet Championships will be held at Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman, Utah from June 12-15, 2024 before returning to the same location in 2025.
The tournament features state-level teams from USA Wrestling’s state associations from across the nation competing in dual meets in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
“USA Wrestling is pleased to bring one of its most popular national dual meet competitions to Herriman and the state of Utah,” said Pete Isais, USA Wrestling national events director. “We have been blessed to hold quality events in Utah in the past. We look forward to working with the local community and the wrestling leadership in Utah to present an outstanding tournament for our state associations. We expect that those who attend will have a very positive experience in Herriman and at the Boys 16U National Duals.”
Zions Bank Real Academy offers the largest, pre-engineered, free-standing steel structure in North America with 210,000 square feet of artificial playing surface. A state-of-the-art digital LED screen sits against the facility’s south wall.
“Sports Salt Lake is delighted to announce our privilege in hosting the USA Wrestling Boys 16U National Duals in 2024 and 2025,” said Clay Partain, executive director of Sports Salt Lake. “Anticipated to draw over 2,000 attendees, this event is poised to generate a direct impact of over $2 million for our destination. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to exhibit our breathtaking mountain city to these athletes and spectators arriving in our community.”
Herriman becomes the 11th city to host this competition and the first in Utah. USA Wrestling’s Folkstyle Tour of America Salt Lake Slam has been hosted in Herriman in the past. USA Wrestling Utah has helped host the 2022 and 2023 USA Wrestling Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals in Farmington, Utah, as well as the USA Wrestling Western Regional Championships within in the state.
“We’re thrilled to welcome a new competition to the State of Sport,” said Utah Sports Commission President and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Robbins. “USA Wrestling’s Boys 16U National Duals will bring the nation’s top youth talent to compete right here in our state.”
The Boys 16U National Duals have been held in Colorado, Missouri, Minnesota, Florida, Pennsylvania, Washington, Indiana and Illinois since it was created in 2000. It was in Loves Park, Illinois, the past two years.
