The USA Basketball women’s national team will play against Germany at the O2 Arena in London in one of its final pre-Olympic exhibitions as part of the 2024 USA Basketball Showcase.
The U.S. will play Germany on July 23, three days after it plays against the WNBA All-Stars in Phoenix. Prior to London, the U.S. women will hold training camp in Phoenix before competing in the WNBA All-Star Game for the first time since doing so ahead of the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
“USA Basketball is looking forward to adding our women’s national team to the USA Basketball Showcase in London,” said Jim Tooley, chief executive officer of USA Basketball. “Not only will playing Germany provide a great opportunity for our team, but it will highlight the growth of women’s basketball around the world as we prepare to defend our gold medal in Paris.”
The matchup with Germany will mark the U.S. women’s first visit to London since winning the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics. The game will tip off at 3 p.m. ET and will air on FS1 in the United States. The women’s game in London will also be days after the men’s team plays South Sudan and Germany at O2 Arena on July 20 and July 22, respectively.
The U.S. officially qualified in women’s basketball for the 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris after winning its 11th world title at the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup. The USA women are seeking their eighth straight Olympic gold medal and 10th overall. In total, USA Basketball will be represented by four teams at the Games, including 5-on-5 men and women and 3×3 men and women. The USA are reigning Olympic champions in 5-on-5 men and women and 3×3 women. The 3×3 men are set to make their Olympic debut next summer.
