The Colorado Springs Olympic & Paralympic Training Center Velodrome will officially reopen on April 1.
Once re-opened, the velodrome will introduce training sessions four days a week, classes for adults and youth and an 18-race series on select Friday nights. USA Cycling and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee will jointly work to continue building Olympic and Paralympic champions in the velodrome and reinstate community programs.
The Colorado Springs Velodrome also functions as an Olympic Training Center. USA Cycling has appointed Robert Mayfield as the community coordinator for the facility.
“As one of three indoor velodromes in the country, a unique opportunity exists to bring consistent programming to the local ridership,” said Mayfield, who brings experience as a track racer and cycling coach, having previously worked with both the USA Cycling and Paracycling National Teams. “I’m thrilled to share my experience with the community that I’ve been a part of since 2018 and do my absolute best to make a difference and grow the sport.”
