U.S. Figure Skating has retained Elevate Talent to lead the search for a new chief executive officer to lead the Colorado Springs-based organization.
The position will be based in Colorado Springs and report to the president of U.S. Figure Skating and its board of directors, which is comprised of 33 percent athletes. The vacancy occurred last October when Tracy Marek resigned after less than two years in the role.
U.S. Figure Skating has an annual budget of approximately $25 million. The NGB has contracts with several major partners and licensees, including NBC Sports, and sanctions more than 1,700 events each year including the national championships which is being held this week in Wichita, Kansas.
Jackie Chang, independent director of the board of U.S. Figure Skating, is co-chairing the search committee with fellow board member Tina Lundgren.
“This is an exciting and important moment for the future of U.S. Figure Skating,” Chang said. “We are confident that through this process, we will hire a visionary leader who will fulfill U.S. Figure Skating’s mission and exceed its strategic goals.”
The role will be responsible for driving stakeholder relationships across the national and international community; developing strategies to enhance programming and membership and generating partnership and philanthropic revenue leading up to and through the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Italy.
“We are honored to partner with U.S. Figure Skating on this significant appointment that will influence and direct the future of one of the world’s foremost figure skating governing bodies,” said Jeff Yocom, senior partner, Elevate Talent. “We look forward to working alongside the U.S. Figure Skating Search Committee to identify the next senior leader capable of delivering on their strategic action plan and fulfilling U.S. Figure Skating’s mission to inspire lifelong passion for figure skating and develop the next generation of champions.”
