Loudoun and Fairfax counties in Virginia will co-host the 2025 USA Hockey Girls Tier II 16U National Championships from April 2–6 as 28 teams from 16 states in the under-16 girls’ division will compete for a national title.
This is the first USA Hockey National Championship for girls to be held in the Washington D.C. area. Ashburn Ice House in Ashburn, Virginia, and The St. James in Springfield, Virginia, will host competition.
“We are excited to welcome more than 500 talented young athletes and their families to our region,” said Barry Biggar, president and chief executive officer of Visit Fairfax. “Hosting this national championship is indeed a great honor and we look so forward to showcasing Northern Virginia’s hospitality and passion for sports tourism.”
Each year in late March and early April, more than 7,500 players compete for USA Hockey honors in youth, girls, high school, adult, sled and warrior classifications. This year, Northern Virginia is one of 11 locations across 10 states selected to host a national championship.
“Securing this prestigious tournament for the region is not only a testament to our growing reputation as a premier sports destination but also a testament to our commitment to fostering economic growth in the community,” said Beth Erickson, Visit Loudoun president and chief executive officer. “Hosting this event allows us to showcase state-of-the-art facilities and our great attractions all while generating significant economic impact to the region.”
