Ticketmaster has been appointed as the official ticketing services provider for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and will offer 1 million tickets through ticketmaster.com.
“It is incredibly important we have a services provider that can successfully meet our commitment to deliver outstanding games with packed stadia and through a fair and simple ticketing strategy,” said Ty Speer, Glasgow 2014 deputy chief executive.
The Glasgow 2014 ticketing sales program launches in August, and Ticketmaster will be responsible for the online and telephone sales along with venue box office outlets at the time of the games.
Glasgow 2014 is expected to have 4,500 athletes from around the Commonwealth compete in 17 sports over 11 days at venues across the city. Even volunteer positions for the games are competitive: Glasgow 2014 has received 50,811 applications for 15,000 volunteer spots, according to David Grevemberg, Glasgow 2014 CEO.
