Date: May 11–16, 2013
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado
Venue: U.S. Olympic Training Center and the Air Force Academy
Rights Owner: U.S. Olympic Committee
Event History: This is the fourth year that U.S. service members and veterans with disabilities have competed in the Warrior Games, organized by the U.S. Olympic Committee and sponsored by Deloitte. The wounded, ill or injured athletes represent the Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force and Special Operations. There’s also a team from the United Kingdom. Teams will compete in seven sports: archery, cycling, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, track and field and wheelchair basketball. The games are designed to encourage veterans to stay physically active when they return to their local communities. Research has shown that such rehabilitative sports have a positive long-lasting impact.
