TEAMS Conference Announces Partnership with the National Congress of State Games

Hosted by the Atlantic City Sports Commission and Meet AC, TEAMS ’16 will be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, September 26–29.
“We are thrilled to announce the co-location of the NCSG Symposium with the TEAMS Conference & Expo,” said Timothy Schneider, president and CEO of Schneider Publishing, which publishes SportsTravel magazine and organizes the TEAMS Conference. “Members of the National Congress of State Games organize large-scale events that bring together athletes and spectators in states all across the nation. We look forward to this partnership and helping the State Games’ movement to continue to grow.”
Each year, nearly 500,000 athletes of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels participate in State Games competitions nationwide, and an additional 1.2 million spectators attend State Games events. The National Congress of State Games organizes the State Games of America, a biennial amateur multisport event held in North America.
The State Games of America have been conducted biennially since 1999, with host cities including St. Louis, Missouri (1999, 2001); Hartford, Connecticut (2003); Colorado Springs, Colorado (2005, 2007, 2009); San Diego (2011); Hershey-Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (2013); and Lincoln, Nebraska (2015). The 2017 State Games of America will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, August 3–6, 2017. The event is expected to bring $5.6 million in direct
visitor spending to Grand Rapids.
The announcement of the partnership was made at the closing session of TEAMS ’15 in Las Vegas, which featured a briefing by the Los Angeles 2024 Olympic Bid Committee, an interview with legendary sports executive Harvey Schiller and a surprise performance from the “Jersey Boys,” recently named Las Vegas’ longest running Broadway show.
