The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Discover Airlines of the Lufthansa Group have announced a partnership to promote travel between Germany and Florida.
The alliance also aims to increase the excitement for American football in Germany as the National Football League looks to grow its fanbase ahead of the November 10 game between the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers in Munich.
“This is a momentous day for the Buccaneers as we celebrate our first international partnership with a German-based organization,” said Buccaneers Owner Bryan Glazer. “Discover Airlines is an ideal partner that has been flying direct from Frankfurt to Tampa for three years and will play a large role in our continuing efforts to connect with our German fans. This partnership will also benefit our entire region by generating additional interest in Tampa Bay as a vacation destination for international visitors who travel in to experience our games.”
The Buccaneers and Discover Airlines will work on communications, marketing activities, competitions and events in Germany. Discover Airlines operates 20 weekly flights between Florida and Frankfurt, Lufthansa’s main hub, including daily flights to Tampa and 10 flights per week to Orlando. In the summer of 2025, service will be added to Fort Myers.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, one of the NFL’s leading teams and a great ambassador for the region, not only for football, but for Florida,” said Bernd Bauer, chief executive officer of Discover Airlines. “Discover Airlines offers the largest number of flights between the Sunshine State and Germany, connecting seamlessly into the Lufthansa Group network. Together with the Buccaneers, we are sure to excite new and old fans for travel on both sides of the Atlantic.”
