All In Sport Consulting, in partnership with Stitch Marketing Research and Huddle Up Group, is conducting the fourth edition of the Adapted Sports Industry Economic Impact Study to capture and project the economic power of the national adapted sports industry.
The first study was conducted in 2020 and has since become an economic impact research tool, helping to demonstrate a business case for adapted and para-sport-related events. The survey for the 2024 economic impact study, which is sponsored by Richmond Region Tourism and the Tempe Tourism Office, is open now and will be accessible through September 30.
Study leaders encourage travel and tourism entities to work with their local adapted sport organization to complete the survey. Findings will be released at the Adapted Sport Leadership & Business Symposium, a two-day virtual conference presented by All In Sport Consulting on November 6–7.
“As a result of this survey, we are excited that more and more organizations are having discussions around the economic impact of adapted sport,” said Dawna Callahan, founder and chief executive officer of All In Sport Consulting. “It’s important to continue these conversations to advance the movement and be recognized as the formidable cultural and economic force that we are. Building the business case around adapted sport is more important now than ever as the country looks to host the Paralympic Games in 2028.”
The first Adapted Sports Industry Economic Impact Study, conducted in 2020 reflecting pre-pandemic activity from 2019, was the first-ever economic impact study for the adapted sport industry. It reported an annual economic impact for adapted sport events ranging from approximately $80.5 to $134.2 million. A follow-up study was conducted in 2022, reporting an annual economic impact of $77.8 million for 2021 events. The 2023 study, reflecting 2022 events, totaled $139.1 million, demonstrating an increase of 78 percent over the previous report.
