Super League Gaming has set a flag in American movie theaters by successfully hosting esports tournaments and events in those venues. Now the company is setting its sights on China.
Super League has announced a partnership Wanda Cinemas Games, a subsidiary of Wanda Media, to bring esports events to the more than 700 theaters the company owns and operates throughout China. With the move, Super League opens itself to a Chinese gaming market estimate to be 1.2 billion gamers.
“This partnership was a strategic imperative for Super League,” said Ann Hand, chairman and chief executive officer of Super League Gaming. “Joining forces with Wanda, the world’s biggest entertainment provider, to bring quality play, events and content to those passionate players transforms the size of our servable market. We are honored to be partnered with Wanda as we bring Super League to the Asian market.”
As part of the agreement, Super League events and tournaments will be staged in Wanda theaters throughout the country. “Our partnership with Super League will bring a new theater and esports experience to the millions of Chinese esports fans and players,” said Jian Huang, chief executive officer of Wanda Cinemas Games. “We are looking forward to closely cooperating with Super League to create and perfect this new venture into the Chinese market.”
