Sportsman Channel has been named the official network of the Iditarod as part of a partnership with the event’s governing board.
“The Iditarod is a wilderness spectacle, a beloved Alaskan tradition and a red, wild and blue American treasure,” said Gavin Harvey, CEO of Sportsman Channel. “We are honored by this partnership and look forward to the collaboration and growth ahead.”
The Iditarod hasn’t had a national television network partner since 2009. The first of 12 hours of Iditarod Unleashed programming begins March 25 at 7 p.m. ET with a one-hour program, “Why Do They Run?” Coverage also will include a two-part documentary on the 2014 event that involves other up-close-and-personal lifestyle stories of the participants and organizers, as well as the history of the event.
