Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh Announces Event Funding Program
2024 Grant application released for potential event organizers
Posted On: January 3, 2024 By :The Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh & Allegheny County has opened its first 2024 Sports Event Funding Program application period which provides financial assistance to support major sporting events that provide significant economic impact to Allegheny County.
The grant portal is open through 3 p.m. local time on January 16. Qualifying events include athletic or esports events, whether professional or amateur, that are regulated and sanctioned by a regional, national or international organization or association.
Funding may be awarded up to $75,000 in the form of a grant or loan. The event must take place 60 days after the application period ends and within two years of the application date. Submitted applications will first be evaluated by the SEA Sports Commission and those recommended by the Sports Commission will then be considered by the board for funding, which is provided from the Pennsylvania Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund.
The Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh & Allegheny County owns and leases PNC Park, Acrisure Stadium, PPG Paints Arena and owns and is responsible for the operation of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. In August 2020, the SEA established the SEA Sports Commission.
