Spokane, Washington, will host four major International Table Tennis Federation events this August including the city’s second time hosting a world championship-level competition.
“It’s an honor to bring yet another world-class event to Spokane,” said Ashley Blake, chief executive officer of Spokane Sports. “Hosting prestigious table tennis events not only highlights our city’s commitment to sports but also showcases Spokane’s capability to host complex, high-level competitions back-to-back.”
The events will take place from August 5–13 at The Podium. WTT Feeder Spokane I will start the action August 5–8, followed by the ITTF Para Future Spokane from August 6–8. The WTT Feeder Spokane II will take place August 9–12, with action wrapping up with the ITTF Para Elite Spokane, August 9–13. The ITTF Para Elite Spokane is one of the top para table tennis competitions in the world.
“We are thrilled to bring an ITTF Future Event and an ITTF Para Elite event — one of the highest levels of Para Table Tennis, equivalent to a Grand Smash — along with two back-to-back WTT Feeder events to Spokane,” said Virginia Sung, chief executive officer of USA Table Tennis. “This is an incredible opportunity for U.S. athletes to gain world-class experience right here at home, competing against top international talent. Our partnership with Spokane Sports has been instrumental in making this possible and we are excited to showcase Spokane as a premier destination for international sports.”
Spokane Sports previously hosted the 2023 Badminton World Federation World Junior Championships, which brought over 400 athletes and their coaches, officials and families from 42 countries for 14 days of competition at The Podium.
“We anticipate welcoming athletes, coaches and fans from around the world,” added Cherié Gwinn, senior director of events at Spokane Sports. ” The upcoming table tennis events will further elevate Spokane’s reputation as a hub for global sports events while also enriching our community’s cultural fabric.”
