At an event as widespread as the Olympic Winter Games, signage for participants, spectators, media and volunteers is essential. Each venue has its own quirks and each experience is different for people just coming across them for the first time. And as you could imagine, that lends itself to some interesting signs in themselves directing people on what to do or where to be—even if they don’t know they need to be there.
At this year’s Games, some of the signs greeting people along the way are also reminders of the challenges facing organizers—including how to deal with Norovirus that continues to spread among volunteers. Others are gentle reminders about the cold conditions, including the sign below outside the ski jump press center urging people to close the door behind them because, well, “the wind is so cold.”
Here is a sampling of what athletes, guests and those working at the Games are seeing to guide them along their way.
