Both Major League Baseball owners and the office of the commissioner have finalized the sale of the San Diego Padres. A group lead by Ron Fowler, CEO of the San Diego-area beer distributorship Liquid Investments, has agreed to purchase the franchise for $800 million from John Moores, who has owned the team for the last 18 years. Folwer’s group is the fifth ownership consortium the Padres have had since the team was incorporated into the National League in 1969.
