Report: Las Vegas to Host the 2027 CFP Title Game
New Orleans, Dallas and Miami have been targeted for the title games from 2028–2030
Posted On: May 13, 2024 By :Las Vegas will host the 2027 College Football Playoff title game, the Action Network’s Brett McMurphy reported on Monday morning on what would be the latest major event to head to Allegiant Stadium in the past few years.
A source told McMurphy that, “Las Vegas is a ‘lock’ to host the 2027 game. It is a done deal. The College Football Playoff has been wanting to get to Vegas for years. We’ll finally get our wish.”
New Orleans, Dallas and Miami are negotiating to host the title games from 2028–2030. McMurphy said if any of those cities can’t reach an agreement, the CFP has selected three cities — 2024 host Houston, Phoenix and Tampa — as backup sites.
The College Football Playoff is expected to officially announce the 2027–2030 championship sites in September.
The CFP originally negotiated with Las Vegas to host the 2025 CFP title game. However, the two sides couldn’t make it work as the annual Consumer Electronics Show, which is also held in early January, requires thousands of hotel rooms. Atlanta was chosen as a late replacement, hosting next year’s title game on January 20, 2025.
Las Vegas will become the 11th different city to host a CFP title game. Securing the championship event is another win in a long line of victories lately for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, which hosted Formula 1 in November 2023 and the Super Bowl at Allegiant Stadium in February 2024. The city has also been announced as the host site for WrestleMania 41 next April and the 2028 Men’s Final Four.

Miami will host the 2026 championship game, which marks the final year of the original 12-year College Football Playoff contract. The new playoff format — which begins with the 2026 regular season — will consist of either 12 or 14 teams/
Since the College Football Playoff began in 2014, Miami will become the first city to host the title game three times (2021, 2026 and 2030). The only other cities to host multiple CFP championships will be Dallas (2014 and 2029), Atlanta (2018 and 2025) and New Orleans (2020 and 2028).
