Posted On: October 9, 2024 By :Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Vieujant has been named chair of the 2030 Olympic Winter Games coordination commission by the International Olympic Committee, returning to a role that he did for the 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris.
Beckers-Vieujant has established relationships through his previous work with the French authorities at all levels including the French National Olympic Committee. The appointment of Beckers-Vieujant follows the recent submission of the Games Delivery Guarantee provided by the French government which was the final step after it was approved to host the 2030 Games during the IOC session this summer.
“His proven track record with Paris 2024, deep understanding of the French governance system and the relationships he has built in recent years, both within France and internationally, make him the ideal appointment for this project,” said IOC President Thomas Bach.
The naming of Beckers-Vieujant as chair is the next step with five years ahead before the Games. Once the Local Organizing Committee is established, the other members of the Coordination Commission will be appointed in due course.
