The Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority has signed a new contract with SMG to manage and operate the Pennsylvania Convention Center, which is located in Philadelphia.
“We are excited about our new partnership with SMG and are committed to enhancing the customer experience at the center and increasing the number of conventions, trade shows and other events we host,” said Gregory Fox, chairman of the PCCA Board of Directors. “Our goal is to fulfill the promise of the center as a major contributor to the success of the hospitality industry and economic driver for the Philadelphia region. We look forward to working with SMG to modernize our operations, control costs, increase revenues and improve future bookings at the center.”
SMG is expected to assume responsibility for management of the center December 1.
“We are already working closely with SMG’s team and the Pennsylvania Convention Center leadership to strategically communicate this change to customers everywhere and will be working alongside them to elevate booking and rebooking rates as quickly as possible,” said Jack Ferguson, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, the sales and marketing arm of the convention center.
