Publix Sports Park will host 16 junior college baseball teams in the second annual Panama City Beach College Baseball Classic in Florida scheduled for February 3–5.
The three-day preseason tournament features seven teams that finished the 2022 season ranked in the top 20 nationally wth three players in last year’s tournament selected in the first four rounds of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.
“We are thrilled to partner with GCSC and Visit Panama City Beach to bring the PCB College Baseball Classic back for a second year. This is a great opportunity to see top-level majorleague prospects first-hand,” said Mike Higgins, general manager of Publix Sports Park.
The 2023 PCB Baseball Classic is presented by Visit Panama City Beach and supported by Perfect Game, which will broadcast games on the PerfectGame.TV network.
The participating teams are Gulf Coast State College (Florida), San Jacinto College (Texas), Delgado Community College (Louisiana), Wallace-Dothan Community College (Alabama), Florence-Darlington Technical College (South Carolina), Coastal Alabama Community College (Alabama), Chattahoochee Valley Community College (Alabama), Florida Southwestern State College (Florida), Northwest Florida State College (Florida), Wabash Valley College (Illinois), State College of Florida (Florida), Miami Dade College (Florida), Andrew College (Georgia), Meridian Community College (Mississippi), Chipola College (Florida) and McLennan Community College (Texas).
“The Panama City Beach College Baseball Classic is a great opportunity for us and the other schools to play highlevel competition at a great venue. We were pleased with how the first year went and are excited to give it a go again in 2023,” said Tyler Younger, coach of Gulf Coast State College, which will be the tournament’s host school.
