Overland Park to College Baseball Foundation Annual Event
Members of the 2023 College Baseball Hall of Fame Class will be announced
Posted On: November 16, 2023 By :The College Baseball Foundation will bring its annual recognition of college baseball’s top athletes — the Night of Champions — to Overland Park, Kansas, the first time the event will be held in the destination.
The February 15, 2024, event will feature the induction of the 2023 College Baseball Hall of Fame class, which will be announced in early December. The first ceremony took place in 2006 and since, players, coaches, administrators and contributors to college baseball have been honored.
“From our very first conversations with Visit Overland Park, their enthusiasm around hosting this event made it very clear that this was the perfect place for the 2024 Night of Champions,” said Craig Ramsey, chair of the College Baseball Foundation Board of Directors.
Those celebrated during the 2024 Night of Champions will join the likes of Will Clark, Dave Winfield, Joe Carter, Skip Bertman, and Augie Garrido. The 2023 national champions from NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and NJCAA will be recognized at the event as will the winners of the CBF 2023 awards:
- Brooks Wallace Award for the nation’s most outstanding shortstop (Matt Shaw, University of Maryland)
- National Pitcher of the Year Award (Paul Skenes, LSU)
- John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award (Caden Grice, Clemson)
“College baseball is much more than stats and winning, it’s where you see the love of the game played by the world’s elite amateur players,” said Warren Wilkinson, president of Visit Overland Park. “Baseball culture is deeply rooted in Overland Park, Kansas, evident by the scores of diamonds that grace the city and the thousands of children through to adults that play America’s national pastime. Serving as this year’s host to the Night of Champions is an honor and Overland Park looks forward to celebrating this year’s college baseball’s greatest players and teams.”
