Omni Hotels & Resorts has revealed plans to build a 600-room convention hotel in downtown Louisville, Kentucky.
The property is expected to house some 70,000 square feet of meeting space as well as a spa, a fitness center, two full-service restaurants, a rooftop café and a lobby lounge. Guests will also be within walking distance of the Kentucky International Convention Center, which features another 300,000 square feet of meeting space.
“The Omni is a game changer for Louisville’s hospitality industry, increasing our convention business potential in a competitive marketplace,” said Karen Williams, interim president and CEO of the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Louisville currently hosts 12.7 million visitors each year. A hotel project of this scope will help support further tourism growth.”
The Omni in Louisville will become part of Omni’s growing Convention Collection, which also features properties in Atlanta, Dallas, Nashville, Washington, D.C., and Providence, Rhode Island. Construction on the property is scheduled to begin in 2015. It is expected to open no later than 2017.
