NHL Releases Full 2024–2025 Schedule With Special Events
First regular-season action will take place in Prague on October 4
Posted On: July 2, 2024 By :The National Hockey League 2024–2025 regular season will start in Europe and include games in multiple countries, new venues, the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off and the first action of the relocated Utah Hockey Club.
The season begins October 4, when the Buffalo Sabres play the New Jersey Devils in the 2024 NHL Global Series at O2 Arena in Prague, Czechia. The Global Series will include the Sabres and Devils in regular-season games on October 4 and October 5 in Prague before the Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers will play games in Tampere, Finland, on November 1 and November 2.
The first North American games of the season will be October 8 with a tripleheader on ESPN highlighted by the Florida Panthers raising their first Stanley Cup banner before facing the Boston Bruins at Amerant Bank Arena. After the Panthers–Bruins, NHL history will be made during the late game when the Utah Hockey Club plays its inaugural game, hosting the Chicago Blackhawks at 10 p.m. ET.
The following night will feature TNT’s season debut with a doubleheader featuring the New York Rangers visiting the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Vegas Golden Knights hosting the Colorado Avalanche. October 14 will mark the first game on Prime Video — which will have 26 broadcasts in Canada — when the Canadiens host the Penguins at Bell Centre at 7:30 p.m. ET.
On New Year’s Eve, the Discover NHL Winter Classic will feature the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks at Wrigley Field at 5 p.m. ET. The game continues the tradition the league established in 2008 of hosting a regular-season outdoor game at the onset of the new year. The other main outdoors event will be on March 1 when the Columbus Blue Jackets will host the Detroit Red Wings at the 2025 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series at Ohio Stadium.
The NHL’s regular-season schedule will pause from February 10–21, 2025, when Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States gather in Montreal and Boston for the 4 Nations Face-Off, a new event featuring international tournament play that will consist of a total of seven games over a nine-day period from February 12–20.
