NFL’s Global Markets Program Adds Four Clubs and Two Markets in 2025
Greece and UAE added; 29 teams across 21 markets participating
Posted On: March 31, 2025 By :The National Football League announced an expansion of its Global Markets Program with Greece and the United Arab Emirates added as markets and several teams adding foreign markets to their international expansion.
In total, 29 clubs will participate in the program across 21 international markets — up from 25 clubs across 19 markets in 2024.
“The expansion of the Global Markets Program in 2025 reflects the NFL’s continued focus to grow the game and connect with fans on a global scale,” said NFL Executive Vice President, Club Business, Major Events & International Peter O’Reilly. “With more clubs entering the program and existing clubs adding to their global rights, and as the program expands to new markets, we are seeing strong momentum and impact in growing fandom worldwide together.”
NFL clubs can apply for rights to international markets by submitting proposals to the International Committee for review each spring. Clubs are awarded rights for a five-year term during this period can pursue activities that are consistent with what they can do in their home domestic market.
The NFL has confirmed a series of regular season international games to be played in 2025. The Los Angeles Chargers will be the home team when the National Football League plays its second regular-season game ever in Brazil, returning to São Paulo and Corinthians Arena on the opening week of the 2025 season.
This is the seventh international game the league has announced so far for the 2025 season, continuing its worldwide expansion. The New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars will play in London this year, while the Indianapolis Colts are the designated team for a game in Berlin and the Miami Dolphins will play in Madrid. The first-ever NFL regular season game in Dublin will feature the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The NFL recently announced its first international game for the 2026 regular season, which will be hosted in Melbourne featuring the Los Angeles Rams. Fifty-five regular season NFL games have been played around the world throughout the league’s history.
The Chargers will have marketing rights in Greece while the Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Washington Commanders will have marketing rights to the UAE. In 2025, nine clubs that currently hold GMP rights will expand to additional countries, acquiring between one and three territories per club. Four new clubs — Baltimore, Green Bay, the Chargers and Commanders — will be in the program for the first time.
