The New Orleans Pelicans have announced a global partnership with TripADeal, an Australian-based online travel agency. The partnership between the Pelicans and TripADeal marks the first Australian international team marketing plan in the NBA.
“We are thrilled to partner with TripADeal to help create memorable once-in-a-lifetime experiences for basketball fans worldwide,” said Pelicans President Dennis Lauscha. “With the NBA becoming increasingly popular in Australia, this partnership allows us to grow fan engagement and develop interactive opportunities with the passionate basketball fanbase in Australia and its surrounding markets.”
TripADeal will become the official online travel agency of the Pelicans. The partnership with TripADeal offers fans a chance to win Pelicans VIP trips and provides opportunities for fans to earn and use their Qantas Airline points toward unique basketball experiences in New Orleans and across the United States.
“We’re proud to be the first Australian organization to sponsor an NBA team and to be doing it with such a reputable organization as the New Orleans Pelicans,” said TripADeal Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer Richard Johnston. “The popularity of basketball and the NBA in Australia is at an all-time high, with close to a dozen Aussies now playing in the league. We see tremendous upside in being able to provide money-can’t-buy experiences for these fans.”
The Pelicans and TripADeal will tip off the partnership with a sweepstakes giving two fans a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas to watch a Pelicans Summer League game. As part of the agreement, TripADeal will also become the presenting partner of Pelicans content during NBA Summer League 2023.
“Since drafting Dyson Daniels last year, we have seen tremendous enthusiasm and support from fans in Australia and we look forward to building stronger connections with the Australian basketball community through our partnership with TripADeal,” said Pelicans Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin.
