Women’s Volleyball Championship
A well-organized event team served up a successful NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship in Seattle that saw strong crowds despite being held just days before Christmas—something organizers attributed to considerable advance work in selling tickets. More than 30,000 attended two days of sessions at KeyArena at Seattle Center. In the finals, Penn State beat Wisconsin for the NCAA title.
“The local people, the organizers did a fine job,” Penn State Head Coach Russ Rose said. “The University of Washington as a host was terrific; anything that they could do to make it accommodating was available. The NCAA and the local sports commission also did outstanding jobs. It was a great event, both nights.”
