Mike Trimboli was unanimously re-elected to another three-year term as president of the organization during the USA Hockey Congress Meeting in Denver that concluded the organization’s four-day annual meeting recently.
Trimboli, from Massena, New York, has been involved in grassroots hockey as a player, coach, official and administrator for parts of the past six decades. He was elected president first in June 2021.
“I’m humbled to continue to serve this great organization,” said Trimboli. “I’d like to thank our Congress for its confidence in me, and it is with much optimism that I look forward to the future. It is always inspiring to see the passion and dedication that shines through during our Annual Meeting. We are so fortunate to have a collaborative environment with volunteers from across the country, our staff and other constituent groups working together as a team to drive the continued growth and evolution of the game.”
The Congress also re-elected Keith Barrett (Northfield, Vermont) as vice president and Youth Council chair and elected Tom Cline (Sylvania, Ohio) as vice president and Adult Council chair.
Trimboli was a player on the outdoor rinks of the Amateur Hockey Association of the United States (today USA Hockey) as a player in 1970, then in 1979 became an on-ice official and added youth hockey coach to his resume starting in 1984. He was elected to the USA Hockey Board of Directors as a director from the New York District in 2005 and was elected as a vice president of USA Hockey and chair of the organization’s Marketing Council in 2017 .
USA Hockey also honored several individuals as part of its annual awards program, including President’s Awards given to volunteer Robert Esche (Utica, New York), as well as staff members Tony Driscoll (Colorado Springs, Colorado) and Heather Mannix (Plymouth, Michigan).
U.S. national teams played in more gold-medal games in major international competition than any other nation in 2023—2024, with gold medals in the Youth Olympic Games, IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship and IIHF World Junior Championship, and silver medals in the IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship, IIHF Women’s World Championship and IPC Para Sled Hockey World Championship.
