Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers to Host Training Camps in Bahamas
The teams will be at different Bahamas resorts from October 1–5
Posted On: September 6, 2024 By :The Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers have each announced they will be holding training camp in the Bahamas this fall.
The Heat’s 2024 training camp will take place at Baha Mar in the Bahamas from October 1–5. The Sixers camp will take place over the same days at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort. Each team will host a media day in the United States on September 30 before heading to the Bahamas.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Miami Heat back to Baha Mar as they gear up for an exciting 2024-25 NBA season,” said Graeme Davis, president of Baha Mar. “As the leading luxury resort in The Bahamas, we look forward to providing an exceptional training camp experience that exceeds their expectations.”
The Heat will conduct practices October 1–4 and conclude training camp on October 5 with a practice open to invited guests before returning to Miami that evening.
The 200,000-square-foot Baha Mar Convention Center is one of the largest event venues in the Caribbean and includes indoor and outdoor spaces, courts for players and elevated seating for viewers.
For the Sixers, the Bahamas trip will be the team’s third consecutive training camp away from home. Philadelphia went to Charleston, South Carolina, in 2022 and Fort Collins, Colorado, last season in head coach Nick Nurse’s first year on the job.
“‘I really put a lot of stock in training camp,” Nurse said. “I think that we’ve normally come out of training camps fast. It’s really the crux of your practice time and I would expect this to be no different. We are going to be prepared to get every ounce of time used wisely to get our guys ready to go.”
Eric Gordon, one of the Sixers’ veteran pickups this offseason, played for the Bahamas over the summer as the country aimed to qualify for the Paris Olympics. The Bahamas team also featured Buddy Hield, who moved from the Sixers to the Warriors in a July trade.
