Martin Dempsey has been reelected as USA Basketball chairperson for the 2025–2028 term, a role he has served since 2016.
Dempsey, a retired Army general who was also the 18th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will lead the 15-member USA Basketball Board of Directors, who will be seated through 2028. The announcement was made following the USA Basketball annual Board of Directors meeting in Colorado Springs.
“It has been a real honor to represent our country with USA Basketball over the last eight years and I’m looking forward to continuing to serve with the Board of Directors through the Olympic Games in Los Angeles,” Dempsey said. “USA Basketball continues to be a global leader in the sport, and we are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our athletes and coaches on and off the court. I’m grateful to everyone who continues to support our mission, including our staff, board members and partners.”
