Turkish Airlines has announced a partnership with the Los Angeles Marathon that includes the carrier becoming the Official Airline Sponsor of the annual race. Turkish Airlines previously sponsored the marathon in 2019 and 2020.
Celebrating its 40th edition, this year’s marathon will see over 25,000 participants take on the 26.2-mile “Stadium to the Stars” course. The route begins at Dodger Stadium and concludes near Avenue of the Stars in Century City, passes through landmarks including Chinatown, Los Angeles City Hall and Rodeo Drive.
“The Marathon’s collaboration with Turkish Airlines is natural extension of our reach to bring people closer together through sport, passion and accomplishment,” said Murphy Reinschreiber, The McCourt Foundation/Los Angeles Marathon chief operating officer. “We’re proud to fly in many of our pro athletes on Turkish Airlines — it says a lot about our event.”
The event supports The McCourt Foundation’s mission to build healthier communities and cure neurological diseases through fundraising and awareness.
“We are happy to be part of Los Angeles’ most celebrated sporting event. It’s truly inspiring to see runners from around the world come together in this vibrant city, cheered on by an incredible community,” said Mahmut Yayla, Turkish Airlines’ senior vice president of sales. “Our sponsorship of the Marathon reflects Turkish Airlines’ commitment to connecting people and cultures, not only through our global network but also through the unifying power of sports.”
The airline operates direct flights to Istanbul from 14 U.S. cities: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Newark, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C.
