Lima, Peru, has been awarded the 2019 Pan American and Parapan Games, beating out bids from three other South American cities. Lima received 31 of an available 57 votes, giving it a majority in the first round of voting.
Santiago, Chile, La Punta, Argentina, and Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela were also competing for the games. The vote was made at the Pan American Sports Organization General Assembly in Toronto, Canada, which will host the 2015 games.
