Jam On It (a member of the Amateur Athletic Union) and the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority have entered an agreement to host several AAU events at the Las Vegas Convention Center through 2020. Operated by the LVCVA, the Las Vegas Convention Center is a 3.2 million-square-foot facility located adjacent to the Las Vegas Strip.
Jam On It, which was founded in 1991, is an event organization whose mission statement is to engage children in fun, competitive play and to have them compete in a well-organized athletic program. The partnership extends the organization’s “All Under One Roof” concept of all games being played at one location. Jam On It is expected to bring three new basketball events to the convention center, including a high school-based event, an NCAA-certified event and an AAU grade-based championship.
“We are very excited to partner with the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority,” said Matt Williams, Jam On It owner and AAU second vice-president. “The Las Vegas Convention Center is a world-class facility that continues the AAU’s tradition of offering parents, spectators, teams and athletes the very best competition environment possible.”
Las Vegas already plays host to other AAU events, including the West Coast Basketball National Championship, AAU West Coast Volleyball Championships and AAU Gymnastics Age Group National Championship. More than 100,000 spectators have attended AAU basketball and volleyball events in Nevada in the past few years.
