Lansing to Host National Horseshoe Pitchers Association Championship
More than 1,000 competitors of all ages will take part
Posted On: July 10, 2023 By :The Greater Lansing Sports Authority, in partnership with the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association and the Michigan Horseshoe Pitchers Association, will host the 2023 NHPA World Championship starting July 17 at the Lansing Center in the Michigan destination.
Nearly 1,000 competitors will travel to Lansing from five different countries and 48 of the United States. The event lasts through July 29 and features the best men’s, women’s and junior horseshoe pitchers in the world. Participating athletes, their families and fans will stay in the region for anywhere from four days to the entire two-week duration of the event.
“Our team has been working hard to coordinate one of the area’s most unique amateur sporting events of 2023,” said Meghan Ziehmer, executive director of the GLSA. “We’re excited to welcome participants from around the world which will have a sizable economic impact for the region.”
The opening ceremony will take place on July 17 at 11 a.m. at the Lansing Center. The opening ceremony and the tournament are free and open to the public. Local attractions are hosting welcome events for participants, including a junior party at Impression 5 Science Center and an NHPA night at Lansing Lugnuts, the city’s minor league baseball team.
