Steel Sports has named Joe Santilli as director of baseball, a role in which he will oversee activities for the 35,000 youth participants in the company’s baseball programs. Steel Sport’s current baseball footprint includes Baseball Haven, Team Steel and the National Youth Baseball Championships.
Santilli previously spent 13 years with Triple Crown Sports, most recently as national executive director of baseball. He also served as a franchise owner, producing elite travel and college baseball events in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
“Joe’s extensive industry experience, network and leadership will position him to immediately contribute in expanding our youth baseball footprint nationally,” said Steel Sports CEO David Shapiro. “The timing is right as a recent Sports and Fitness Industry Association study cites youth baseball and softball as the nation’s most participated team sports.”
