International Esports Federation Elects Prince Faisal as President
Faisal had been acting president since October 3 following the resignation of Vlad Marinescu
Posted On: December 1, 2023 By :The International Esports Federation elected Prince Faisal as president during the Extraordinary General Meeting on November 26 in Busan, South Korea, extending an interim term that began earlier this year.
Faisel was elected with 71 votes (98.6%) and his presidential term will run through 2025. He was appointed acting president of IESF on October 3, 2023, following former president Vlad Marinescu’s decision to step down.
“I am honored to lead the International Esports Federation into a new era of collaboration, innovation and global recognition,” Faisal said. “Esports has the power to unite individuals from all corners of the world through a common love for gaming. Together, we will champion the values of integrity, inclusivity and fair play, ensuring that esports continues to flourish as a dynamic and respected form of competition on the international stage. I look forward to working hand in hand to shape a vibrant and sustainable future for our industry.”
Faisal has helped grow esports in Saudi Arabia and is focused on promoting sustainable and responsible gaming worldwide. The IESF concluded its year with the World Esports Summit in Busan. Faisal participated in a panel discussion that took a behind-the-scenes look into hosting the world’s biggest esports events.
“We could not be more excited about this new chapter for IESF,” said IESF Secretary General Boban Totovski. “With our next edition of the World Esports Championships coming to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2024, there is no one better to lead our organization than HRH Prince Faisal.
