Indianapolis Selected to Host 2021 NBA All-Star Game
Posted On: December 13, 2017 By :The National Basketball Association has announced that Indianapolis will host the 70th NBA All-Star Game in 2021. The midseason classic will be held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, home of the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, February 14, 2021.
“Indianapolis has an enduring love for basketball that creates a special connection to our All-Star Game,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, who made the announcement during a press conference at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. “I want to especially thank Herb Simon for his efforts to bring the All-Star festivities back to Indianapolis as well as acknowledge the strong support we received from Governor Holcomb, Mayor Hogsett, Larry Bird, Rick Fuson and the entire Pacers organization.”
In partnership with Pacers Sports & Entertainment, Indiana Sports Corp. and Visit Indy worked to bring the 2021 All-Star Game to Indianapolis, which previously hosted the game in 1985 at the Hoosier Dome. The 2021 game will also utilize other venues throughout Indianapolis such as Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center to host events including the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and NBA All-Star and Rising Star practices.
The NBA All-Star 2012 will be televised by TNT in prime time for the 19th consecutive year. Los Angeles will host the game in 2018, Charlotte in 2019 and Chicago in 2020.
