The inaugural Phoenix Marathon will launch December 13, 2025 with three distances for runners all within the city’s limits.
Endurance event production and technology company Brooksee, an event production company within the endurance space, announced the race launch this week. There will be a 26.2-mile marathon, a 13.1-mile half marathon and a 10K with an estimate of over 5,000 runners participating.
“Showcasing Phoenix to the running community is always an incredible opportunity,” said Ron Price, president and chief executive officer of Visit Phoenix. “With Phoenix’s signature sunny weather and stunning desert landscapes, it’s the perfect setting for an unforgettable race experience. We are proud to welcome a destination race that inspires runners from near and far.”
Runners will experience a flat course to try for a Boston Marathon qualifying time. Both half and full marathon runners will race down Camelback Road to the Biltmore area through desert landscapes with views of Camelback Mountain. The finish for all three distances includes views of Papago Park before the finish line near Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
“I am beyond excited to partner with Visit Phoenix to attract and host the inaugural Phoenix Marathon, which is set to start in my district and continue south through the heart of our amazing city,” said Vice Mayor Ann O’Brien. “Phoenix continues to be the premier location to host top tier mega events like the Super Bowl, NCAA Championships and NBA/WNBA All Star Games.”
Brooksee is anticipating an estimated economic impact for the city of $1.7 to $2 million from visitor spending and event operations.
“We quickly recognized that Phoenix, as the largest U.S. city without a signature marathon, was the perfect location for our next world-class event,” said Phil Dumontet, chief executive officer of Brooksee. “Phoenix offers a vibrant running community and incredible potential. Our goal is to establish a marquee race that unites the local community and draws visitors from across the country and the globe.”
