In the sport of pickleball, the future of venue expansion may come from private homebuilders. Kolter Homes, a developer of master-planned adult communities, has announced that it will build a pickleball venue with more than 30 courts, believed to be the largest private pickleball venue built in Georgia. The complex will be part of Cresswind Georgia at Twin Lakes, a 55+ community under construction in Hoschton, Georgia, just north of Braselton.
The housing community is expected to open to residents in the spring, with the courts being one of the selling points as they will be capable of hosting tournaments and events.
“The last 10 years have seen pickleball explode as a highly demanded outdoor amenity by residents in our 55+ communities,” Kolter Homes Director of Lifestyle Mark LaClaire said. “At our communities across the Southeast, pickleball is typically one of the largest and most active resident clubs.”
The Georgia complex will mark the developer’s second significant pickleball venue. In early December, Kolter Homes opened a 27-court pickleball center at PGA Village Verano in Port St. Lucie, Florida. That venue, believed to be the largest private pickleball venue in South Florida, is scheduled to host the World Pickleball Open, a USA Pickleball Association sanctioned event, December 12–15.
