The Miami Heat and Washington Wizards will play on November 2, 2024, at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City in the NBA’s Mexico City Game 2024.

The announcement was made at NBA House in Mexico, a fan event during Game 4 of the 2024 NBA Finals. The matchup will mark the league’s 33rd game in Mexico since 1992, more than any country outside of the U.S. and Canada. It will be the third time the Heat play in Mexico and the fourth time the Wizards play in the capital city.

“We are delighted at the opportunity to represent the NBA and Washington, D.C. at the Global Games and are proud that our team reflects the growing globalization of the NBA,” said Michael Winger, president of Monumental Basketball. “Previous Washington Bullets and Wizard teams have had the opportunity of playing in Mexico City. We are honored to follow in their footsteps and look forward to introducing this new Wizards team to NBA fans in Mexico City.”

The Heat-Wizards game will coincide with traditional “Día de los Muertos” (Day of the Dead) celebrations. The “Dia de los Muertos” theme will be showcased as part of a variety of in-arena activations during the game, including a specially themed court and through the league’s fan engagement initiatives around the game.

The Mexico City game is the latest international announcement for the league. The 2025 Paris Games with Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs against the Indiana Pacers on January 23 and January 25, 2025, will mark the first time the NBA will play two regular-season games in the French capital in the same season.

Mexico City and Paris Games follow the 2023 showcase that featured the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons at the Accor Arena in France. Later this year, the NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2024 will feature the Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets in two preseason games on October 4 and October 6 in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

The Heat currently features six-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler and three-time NBA All-Star Bam Adebayo. The Wizards feature NBA champions Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole.

“We are excited to return to Mexico City to bring a little of Miami’s Heat to the passionate fans of such a vibrant city,” said Eric Woolworth, president of the Heat Group’s business operations. “Participating in these NBA Global Games allows us to engage with a broader basketball-loving community.”
