FIBA has announced that Hangzhou, China, will host the fifth edition of the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Final on September 7–8.
This will be the first time China has hosted the women’s final. The country will also be the site for three other women’s events this summer in Chengdu from June 21–22, Wuhan from June 29–30 and Tangshan from July 12–13.
This season got underway in Springfield, Massachusetts, in April, marking the first Women’s Series event on American soil since the competition’s launch in 2019. Its next event is May 29–30 in Marseille.
“The selection of Hangzhou as the host city for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Final is a significant milestone, underlining our commitment to expanding the women’s game and enhancing its visibility worldwide,” said Alex Sanchez, managing director of FIBA 3×3. “Hangzhou provides the perfect backdrop for the pinnacle of women’s 3×3 basketball.”
Hangzhou previously hosted the 2023 Asian Games. The tournament will feature the top seven teams from the regular season alongside host nation China. The Women’s Series will feature a total of 20 events throughout the 2024 season and over $1.4 million in prize money.
The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series was established in 2019. Previous champions include France (2019), Germany (2021), and Canada (2022 and 2023), which won the title at the Springfield event in April.
