World Aquatics has named Guadalajara as a host for the 2025 World Aquatics Diving World Cup, the city’s first time hosting a World Aquatics event since 2013.
The April 3–6 event is the first of three scheduled Diving World Cup events for 2025. Competition will take place at the Centre Acuatico Code Metropolitano, the country’s national diving training hub in Zapopan in the state of Jalisco. The venue has previously hosted the Diving World Cup, the 2011 Pan-American Games, and numerous national diving championships.
“I would like to thank World Aquatics for trusting us to host this prestigious event, which marks a new era where athletes are our top priority,” said Rommel Pacheco, Mexico’s sports minister. “One of our main objectives is to resolve past challenges and move forward. Hosting the World Aquatics Diving World Cup 2025 is a key step in revitalizing aquatic sports in Mexico, particularly as we prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.”
The other two Diving World Cup competitions will take place in Windsor, Canada, from April 10–13 and the Super Final will be in Beijing May 2–4.
Guadalajara has an extensive diving history, serving as the training ground for past Olympic medalists including Gabriela Agundez, Paola Espinosa, Ivan Garcia, Alvaro Gaxiola, Alejandra Orozco and German Sanchez. Mexico has hosted 28 World Aquatics diving events, including 14 Diving World Cups. The country has earned at least one diving medal at every Olympics since the 1932 Games in Los Angeles.
“Guadalajara’s selection as a host city for the World Aquatics Diving World Cup 2025 is a tremendous honor for Mexico,” said Maria Jose Alcala, president of the Mexican Olympic Committee and a former World Championship diving medalist. “As a former diver, I know how significant this competition is for athletes and fans alike. Guadalajara’s passion for sports and our deep diving tradition ensure that we will deliver an unforgettable event that celebrates the spirit of competition, showcases our amazing aquatics center, and offers all who come the best of Guadalajara hospitality.”
