Greg Ortale has stepped down from his position as president and chief executive officer of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau and as a director of the organization’s board of directors.
Ortale believes that, given the potential strategic alignment between the GHCVB and Houston First Corporation along with his personal desire to spend more time with family, this is the right time to step down.
Earlier this year, the GHCVB and Houston First announced that they would enter discussions regarding a strategic alignment of the two organizations. These discussions are ongoing and the final decision is subject to approval of both boards.
Ortale has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 40 years. He will stay in his current role until an acting CEO is named and will remain an employee of the GHCVB until July 31.
