London will host The Formula 1 Exhibition opening August 23 at ExCeL London, giving visitors the chance to get up close and personal with pieces of motorsport history.

The opening of the show at the ExCeL, which this week is hosting The Meetings Show and TEAMS Europe, follows runs in Madrid, Vienna and Toronto. London is set to be the biggest F1 exhibition to date with several new additions, including Formula 1 cars and memorabilia.

“It’s fitting to bring the F1 Exhibition to the UK capital and pay tribute to the British teams and drivers and personalities who have etched themselves into F1 history,” said Emily Prazer, chief commercial officer of Formula 1. “The F1 Exhibition has been incredibly popular since its launch in Madrid, and successful runs in Vienna and Toronto prove that it is a great way to engage with both hardcore fans and new audiences, whilst extending F1’s reach beyond the racetrack.”

The activation includes six rooms to explore, including the Silverstone Museum space. There will also be rooms detailing the sport’s defining moments, inside a Formula 1 factory, stories of the sport’s drivers, their legendary races and their pathway to Formula 1. There will also be rooms featuring the innovations in the sport and “Survival,” where the remains of Romain Grosjean’s burnt out race car from his 2020 crash explain the importance of safety innovations in the sport. The show then reaches a cinematic experience that allows fans to relive the greatest moments in Formula 1.

“It’s been incredible to see how fans around the world have reacted to the exhibition since opening last year,” said Timothy Harvey, lead curator and producer of the Formula 1 Exhibition. “London was always going to be an incredibly special location for us, so I am looking forward to what’s to come. Each show recognizes the national heritage of its host location and as Britain is the home of racing this will be a really special show.”

New for London, a partnership with Silverstone Museum will bring stories from the British Grand Prix to life. Racing simulators using F1 gaming equipment will give visitors the chance to experience what it’s like to sit behind the wheel of an F1 car as they race around the Silverstone track. With contributions from teams, drivers and experts, the exhibition combines audio-visual design, rare film and imagery, engineering displays and Grand Prix cars.
