Five sports facilities will be recognized at the 2023 National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition later this month in San Antonio with Facility of Merit Awards.
The facilities that will receive awards include Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas; Minute Maid Park in Houston; Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska; M.O. Campbell Education Center in Aldine, Texas, and Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota.
The award recognizes a sports facility that has demonstrated an innovative approach to enhancing safety and security beyond its normal operations or addressed a significant safety or security concern. The event, scheduled for June 27-29, is presented annually by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security at the University of Southern Mississippi.
The awards will be presented at an annual awards luncheon at the conference. Established in 2006, the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security is the nation’s only academic center devoted to the study and practice of sports safety and security.
“We look forward to recognizing these outstanding facilities and their management teams for their innovative work,” said Dr. Stacey Hall, National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition executive director and professor of sport management.
